Some Frequently Asked Questions

Q: I've never tried water sports before, is this camp for me?

A: You bet, in fact this is a great way to start; let our instructors get you riding with the proper technique before you learn any bad habits that are generally hard to get rid of.

Q: What's a typical day of camp like?

A: Everyone arrives around 8:50am, make sure everything is all set up and ready to go and hit the water by around 9:15 for a full morning of trying new sports and progressing at the ones you've already got some skills in. Lunch time rolls around and we take a break on the beach, share some stories, photos and unexpected shananagins, then we're right back on the water for a beautiful afternoon of riding, laughing and enjoying just being outside doing something all your friends will be jealous of.

Q: The sports you offer are dangerous aren't they?

A: Any extreme sport brings with it a certain amount of risk, but here at Flipside we do everything in our power to bring those risks to a minimum. Not only do we want you to learn new sports and enjoy yourself, we want you to do it in a safe and responsible manner. Safety is number one with us and we take every precaution to keep you safe and smiling. All instructors are certified in first aid and C.P.R just in case.

Q: I'm 25 and work 9-5, how do I get involved?

A: There's two great ways to get out on the water with us, sign up for a weekend session or find a group of buddies or co-workers who want to spend an evening or two out on the lake and call us to set up a private group session.

Q: What do I need to bring to camp?

A: It can get a little cold out on the water, and nobody wants to be cold all day so make sure you dress warm, it's better to have too much rather than too little. Other than that bring your towel, a lunch and a big smile, we'll provide the boat, the gear, the instruction and a great way to spend your summer!

Q: How many people are usually in the boat?

A: The boat can comfortably hold 13 full size adults, but we keep the numbers as small as possible, usually between 5-6 students depending on the week to ensure you are spending your time shredding on the lake than sitting in the boat.

Q: What do I do while the other people are riding?

A: The small instructor to student ratio ensures that you get the attention you deserve. While you're not in the water we'll spend our time going through demonstrations, dry land instruction, giving you little tips and helpful hints to get you to the next level, and of course hanging out in the boat relaxing and getting ready for your next set!

Q: What's included in the price?

A: You'll be experiencing your newfound love called water sports in our brand new boat with you guessed it, brand new top of the line gear. For those of you taking part in the week long camps you'll be rocking out in your spiffy new Flipside T-Shirt. All equipment is provided, along with instruction, snacks, and more fun than you can shake a stick at.

Q: What happens if the weather doesn't co-operate and we can't get out on the water?

A: Even though we try real hard, we haven't yet figured out a way to control the weather. We don't take any chances with Mother Nature, so if it's hailing, snowing or a lightning storm we won't be on the lake. If you're at one of the week camps, we've got tons of other cool stuff to do until the clouds clear, if it's a weekend camp we'll deal with each scenario as it comes, but if we can't get out, don't worry, we'll work out an alternate day or if nothing works, we'll refund your money.
